The Stampede is innovative, functional and fun. The fore end grip converts to a bipod just like I've seen on the M-4 rifles used by the Armed Forces. The rate of fire is about the same as the Vulcan and the unit is powered by 6 D Cell batteries. The range is about the same as the Long Shot, but the accuracy isn't exceptional. The 18-round magazines (you get 3 of them plus a 6 round) give you a good amount of firepower, but they do extend down a bit too much for my son's tastes. The front shield piece is a great addition, since it has a cross-hatched window that you can look through. This unit was easy to assemble and has worked flawlessly so far. This package also contained 60 darts that are commonly used in other Nerf guns. In general, our experience has been that Nerf guns are more durable and of higher quality than the bargain brands and the Stampede looks to be no exception. Lots of fun.*This is the best Nerf N-Strike Stampede ECS gun yet and is extremely fun. I used it on my paintball course with a bunch of other kids and i accidentally dropped it for an elevated tower (about six feet of of the ground) and it still works perfectly. I modified it by connecting a 9.6 volt R.C. battery pack to if and now it is much lighter and has a much faster rate of fire. The blast shield works great deflecting enemy fire. The pop out bipod works great for added stability and doubles as a fore grip. I give this gun five stars for fun and durability. I give it two stars for educational value because it has no education involved.
